Using the Trade2Base Mobile App as an Engineer
The Trade2Base app gives engineers everything they need on site — job details, navigation, checklists, parts logging, and customer sign-off — all from their phone. This guide covers getting set up and making the most of the app day to day.
Downloading the app
The Trade2Base engineer app is available on both major platforms:
- iPhone / iPad — search “Trade2Base” on the Apple App Store and tap Get
- Android — search “Trade2Base” on Google Play and tap Install
The app requires iOS 15 or Android 10 or later. Your company admin adds you as a team member in Trade2Base before you can log in — if you haven't received an invite, ask your manager to check Settings → Team.
Logging in
Open the app and enter the email address your admin used to add you. Tap Send magic link — you'll receive an email with a one-tap login button. No password to remember.
Once logged in, your session stays active. You'll only need to log in again if you uninstall the app or are removed from the team. Enable Face ID or fingerprint unlock in your phone's settings for quick access.
The engineer home screen
When you open the app you'll see your Today view — a chronological list of all jobs assigned to you for the current day, showing:
- Scheduled start time and job duration
- Customer name and address
- Job type and current status
Swipe left on the screen or tap Schedule in the bottom bar to see your jobs for the rest of the week.
Viewing job details
Tap any job to open the full job detail screen. You'll find:
- Address with a one-tap button to open navigation in Apple Maps or Google Maps
- Job notes added by the office, including any access codes or special instructions
- Customer history — previous jobs at this address so you can see what work has been done before
- Checklist — any tasks your admin has set for this job type
Starting and completing a job
When you arrive on site, tap Start job. This records your arrival time and changes the job status to In progress — the office can see this in real time. While on site you can:
- Tick off checklist items as you complete them
- Add photos directly from the job screen (tap the camera icon)
- Log parts used (see below)
- Add job notes for the office
When all work is done, tap Complete job. You'll be prompted to collect a customer signature before the status changes to Completed.
Adding parts used on site
Tap Add materials on the job screen. Search for parts by name or SKU from your company's catalogue, or add a custom item manually. Enter the quantity used and tap Save.
Parts you log on the app sync instantly to the job in the office system, where they can be included on the invoice. This eliminates the need to call the office to report what was used.
Collecting a customer signature
Tap Get signature and hand your phone to the customer. They sign directly on the screen with their finger. Tap Confirm to save. The signature is attached to the job record and can be included on the completion certificate or invoice PDF.
If the customer is not present, tap Skip signature and add a note explaining why (e.g. access job, landlord not on site). The office is notified automatically.
GPS tracking
When you tap Start job, the app begins passively logging your location to verify on-site attendance. This data is visible to your company admin and is used for mileage reporting and time-on-site verification.
Tracking is only active when a job is in progress — it stops automatically when you tap Complete job. You can see a summary of your tracked mileage in My profile → Mileage log.
Offline mode
The app works without a mobile signal. Here's what you can do offline:
- View all jobs assigned to you for the next 7 days (pre-loaded when you last had signal)
- Start and complete jobs, tick checklists, add notes
- Log parts and collect signatures
- Take photos (stored locally until signal returns)
Everything syncs automatically the moment your signal is restored. A yellow banner at the top of the screen indicates you're currently offline.
