Tracking Engineer Performance and Productivity
Understanding how each engineer is performing helps you reward high performers, identify training needs, and make better scheduling decisions. Trade2Base's Team Performance dashboard brings all the key metrics together in one place.
Finding the engineer performance dashboard
The dashboard is available to business owners and managers — engineers can only see their own data unless you grant wider access.
- Click Reports in the left-hand sidebar.
- Select Team Performance from the reports menu.
- Use the date range picker at the top to choose the period you want to review — this week, this month, a custom range, or a comparison between two periods.
- Use the engineer filter to view the whole team at once or drill into a single engineer's metrics.
Metrics tracked for each engineer
Trade2Base tracks six core performance metrics automatically — no manual data entry required.
- Jobs completed per day — the average number of jobs the engineer finishes per working day over the selected period. Useful for capacity planning.
- First-time fix rate — the percentage of jobs completed on the first visit without a follow-up required. A high first-time fix rate indicates strong technical skills and good pre-job preparation.
- Average job duration — how long, on average, the engineer spends on each job from arrival to departure (based on check-in and check-out times recorded in the app).
- Customer rating — the average star rating the engineer has received from post-job review requests during the selected period.
- Revenue attributed — the total invoiced value of jobs completed by the engineer, giving you a clear picture of individual contribution to turnover.
Setting performance targets
You can set individual or team-wide targets for each metric. Targets appear as benchmark lines on the charts so you can see at a glance who is hitting goals and who might need support.
- From the Team Performance report, click Set Targets in the top-right corner.
- Enter target values for any metrics you want to track — you don't have to set all of them.
- To set individual targets per engineer (e.g. a higher jobs-per-day target for a senior engineer), switch to the Individual targets tab and adjust as needed.
- Click Save targets. The benchmark lines will appear on all engineer charts immediately.
Exporting engineer performance data
You can export performance data to use in payroll reviews, team meetings, or your own reporting spreadsheets.
- From the Team Performance report, set your date range and any engineer filters, then click Export.
- Choose CSV for use in Excel or accounting software, or PDF for a formatted report you can print or share.
- The export includes all tracked metrics for each engineer in the selected period, along with job-level breakdowns if you select the Include job detail option.
Sharing performance data with engineers
Engineers can be given access to see their own performance metrics — which many find motivating — without being able to see their colleagues' data.
- Go to Settings → Team → Permissions and find the engineer's role.
- Enable View own performance stats. The engineer will now see a personal performance summary when they log in to the mobile app.
- Leave View team performance stats disabled if you don't want engineers to see each other's data — this is the default setting.
Privacy considerations
Performance monitoring should be handled transparently and in line with UK employment law best practice.
- We recommend informing engineers that performance data is being tracked as part of their employment contract or handbook.
- Check-in and check-out data (used for average job duration) is only recorded when engineers actively use the app on-site — Trade2Base does not provide continuous location tracking.
- Engineers have the right to access their own personal data held by Trade2Base under UK GDPR. Direct any subject access requests to support@trade2base.com.
