Running Job Completion and Revenue Reports
Trade2Base's Reports section turns your job and invoice data into clear, actionable numbers. Track how many jobs your team is completing, how your revenue breaks down by engineer and job type, and how this month compares to last — then export or schedule the report so your numbers are always at hand.
Finding the Reports Section
Click Reports in the main left-hand navigation. If you don't see it, check that your user role has Reports access — account owners and managers have access by default. Roles can be adjusted under Settings → Team → Permissions.
The Reports home screen shows a summary of your key metrics for the current month alongside shortcuts to your most recently viewed reports.
The Job Completion Report
Select Job Completion from the Reports menu. Set your date range using the date picker at the top — you can choose a preset (Today, This Week, This Month, Last Month, This Quarter, This Year) or enter a custom range.
The report can be broken down by:
- Engineer — see how each team member is performing side by side.
- Job type — compare completions across boiler services, installations, repairs, and so on.
- Postcode — identify which areas of your territory are busiest.
- Customer — useful for commercial clients or landlords with high job volumes.
Select a breakdown dimension from the Group by dropdown, then click Run Report.
Key Metrics Explained
- Jobs booked — total jobs created in the period, regardless of status.
- Jobs completed — jobs marked as Completed within the period.
- Completion rate — jobs completed as a percentage of jobs booked. A falling rate can indicate scheduling bottlenecks or cancellations worth investigating.
- Average job value — total invoiced revenue divided by completed jobs. Track this over time to see if upselling is working.
- Total revenue — sum of all invoices raised and marked as paid in the period (accrual basis). Unpaid invoices are shown separately as outstanding.
Filtering and Comparing Periods
To filter the report further, use the Filters panel on the right:
- Filter by one or more engineers to focus on a subset of your team.
- Filter by job status to exclude cancelled or on-hold jobs from the numbers.
- Filter by job type to drill into a single service line.
Enable Compare to previous period to add a second column showing the equivalent prior period side by side. Trade2Base automatically picks the matching period (e.g. if you're looking at March, it compares to February). For year-on-year comparison, tick Compare to same period last year instead.
Percentage change columns show increases in green and decreases in red, making it easy to spot trends at a glance.
Revenue by Job Type Breakdown
Below the main summary table you'll find the Revenue by Job Type chart — a bar chart showing your total revenue split across each job type category. Hover over a bar to see the exact revenue figure, number of completed jobs, and average job value for that category.
This breakdown helps you identify which services are most profitable and where to focus marketing or capacity. If boiler installations make up 60% of revenue but only 20% of job volume, you know they're your highest-value service line.
Exporting Reports
Click the Export button in the top-right of any report to download it. Two formats are available:
- CSV — flat data file suitable for opening in Excel, Google Sheets, or importing into your accountancy software.
- PDF — a formatted report with your Trade2Base business name and logo, suitable for sharing with a business partner or accountant.
The export includes all rows currently visible in the report (respecting your active filters), plus the comparison period columns if enabled.
Scheduling a Weekly Email Summary
To receive a Job Completion report automatically each week, click Schedule next to the Export button. Configure:
- Frequency — Weekly (recommended), Fortnightly, or Monthly.
- Day — the day of the week the email is sent (e.g. Monday morning to review the previous week).
- Recipients — your email address is pre-filled; add additional recipients such as a business partner or accountant by typing their email.
- Format — PDF attached to the email, or a link to view it live in Trade2Base.
Scheduled reports run with the same filters and groupings as the report you're viewing when you set up the schedule. You can edit or cancel a scheduled report at any time from Reports → Scheduled Reports.
