Customising Your Customer Portal
The Trade2Base customer portal is your clients' self-service hub — they use it to approve quotes, pay invoices, view job history, and download certificates. This guide explains how to brand it as your own, set a custom domain, and control exactly which features your customers can access.
Open portal settings
Navigate to Settings → Portal. All branding, feature toggles, and sharing options are on this single page. Changes are saved automatically and take effect immediately for customers who reload the portal.
Add your logo and brand colour
Upload your company logo under Logo. Accepted formats are PNG and SVG. The recommended size is 400 × 120 px — wider logos are cropped to fit the header bar.
Set your Brand colour using the hex code picker (e.g. #1D4ED8). This colour is applied to buttons, links, and highlight elements throughout the portal so it feels like a natural extension of your website.
- Use a transparent PNG logo for the best result on white backgrounds
- SVG logos scale perfectly on high-resolution (Retina) screens
- Test the colour picker in both light mode and your brand palette to ensure readability
Set a custom domain
By default the portal lives at yourbusiness.trade2base.com. You can move it to your own subdomain — for example portal.yourcompany.co.uk — by adding a CNAME record in your domain registrar's DNS settings.
- 1In Settings → Portal → Custom domain, enter your desired subdomain (e.g.
portal.yourcompany.co.uk) and click Save. - 2Trade2Base displays a CNAME target (e.g.
cname.trade2base.com). Log in to your domain registrar (GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.) and create a CNAME record pointing your subdomain to this target. - 3DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate. Once Trade2Base detects the record, it provisions an SSL certificate automatically and the domain goes live.
Welcome message and feature toggles
The Welcome message field lets you add a short greeting shown on the portal login screen — for example: “Welcome to the Smith Plumbing customer portal. Log in to view your quotes, invoices, and job history.”
Below the welcome message, use the feature toggles to control what customers can do:
Custom terms and conditions
In the Terms and conditions field, paste your standard terms. Customers must read and accept them before they can approve a quote. This creates a timestamped acceptance record stored against the quote in Trade2Base.
Terms are shown in a scrollable text box on the portal — keep them concise (under 1,000 words) for the best customer experience. For lengthy legal terms, link to a PDF on your own website instead.
Share link and QR code
At the bottom of Settings → Portal, copy the portal share link and download the QR code. Add the QR code to your business cards, van graphics, or invoices so customers can quickly find the portal without needing to search for it.
- The QR code is available as PNG or SVG for print or digital use
- Each customer is sent their unique login link — the share link is just for discovery
- Test the portal on a mobile device — most customers will access it from their phone
Tip: disable rebooking for one-off jobs
If you do primarily one-off callout work rather than recurring maintenance, turn off the Rebook toggle. This keeps the portal clean for customers and avoids speculative job requests from customers you've already served.
