Managing engineer time off and holidays
Record holidays, sick leave and absences so your scheduling calendar always reflects who is available and when.
How to add time off for an engineer
- 1Go to Team > [Engineer name] > Availability in the Trade2Base dashboard.
- 2Click “Add time off” and select the type: Holiday, Sick leave, Training or Other.
- 3Enter the start and end dates (and times if it is a partial day), add any notes and click Save.
- 4The engineer is automatically marked as unavailable in the scheduling calendar for the selected period — their jobs will not be booked into those time slots.
- 5To view all time off across the team, go to Team > Time Off Overview to see a calendar showing all engineers' absences for the month.
Trade2Base automatically blocks bank holidays in England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland based on your business address settings. You can override these individually if your business operates on bank holidays.
Frequently asked questions
Engineers can submit time off requests via the Trade2Base mobile app. Requests appear in Team > Time Off for a manager to approve or decline. Approved requests are automatically added to the availability calendar.
You can add time off for any past date. Go to Team > [Engineer name] > Availability, click “Add time off” and enter the dates already passed. This keeps your records accurate even when absences are reported late.
Yes. When the Google Calendar integration is enabled, engineer time off periods are synced as all-day blocked events to the engineer's connected calendar so they are visible alongside their job schedule.
Yes. Go to Settings > Team > Time Off Policy and set a minimum notice period in days. Requests submitted with less notice will be flagged for manager review rather than auto-approved.
