Customer Tags
Customer tags are custom labels you apply to customer records to segment your list — making it easy to filter, communicate with, and build automations for specific groups of customers.
What tags are
Tags are short labels that you define yourself and apply to any customer record. Unlike job types or customer segments (which are generated automatically from data), tags are manual labels that reflect how your business thinks about its customers. A customer can have multiple tags. Tags appear on the customer record and are visible to anyone on your team with access to customer data.
Creating a new tag
- 1Go to Customers > Tags in the left-hand menu, or open any customer record and click the tag icon.
- 2Click New tag, type a name (e.g. Landlord) and choose a colour to make it easy to spot on customer cards.
- 3Click Save tag. The tag is now available to apply to any customer record.
Applying tags to customers
Open a customer record, click the Tags field, and start typing to search for or select a tag. You can apply as many tags as you like. Click outside the field to save.
In the Customers list, use the checkboxes to select multiple customers. Click Actions > Add tag and choose the tag to apply. This is the fastest way to tag a group of existing customers at once — for example, tagging all customers who own rental properties as Landlord.
Filtering the customer list by tag
- 1Go to Customers and click Filter at the top of the list.
- 2Select Tag from the filter dropdown and choose the tag you want to filter by. You can filter by multiple tags at once.
- 3The customer list narrows to show only matching customers. You can then export this list, send a broadcast message, or perform bulk actions.
Using tags for targeted communications
In Messaging > Broadcast, select a tag as your audience. Only customers with that tag receive the message. Useful for sending a seasonal offer to Landlords or a reminder to Priority customers.
In Campaigns, use a tag-based audience filter to send targeted email campaigns. For example, send a boiler service reminder only to customers tagged as Landlord.
In Automations, set a tag as a condition. For example, trigger a different follow-up sequence for Priority customers than for standard customers.
