Tracking Where Your Jobs Come From
Trade2Base's referral source tracking tells you which channels — Google, Checkatrade, customer referrals, Facebook, or direct calls — are generating the most jobs and revenue. Use this data to cut spend on channels that aren't performing and double down on what works.
How to set up and use referral source tracking
Open Settings and select Attribution from the left-hand menu. Toggle "Referral source tracking" on. This adds a source field to the new job and new customer forms.
When you or your team creates a new job or customer record, the "How did they find you?" field appears. Select the source: Google, Checkatrade, Referral, Facebook, Direct, or Other. This takes about five seconds and pays off enormously over time.
For jobs that arrive via your Google Ads or Facebook Ads campaigns, Trade2Base reads the UTM parameters and attributes the job to the correct campaign automatically. No manual entry is needed for these leads.
Open the Campaigns section and select Attribution Report. Choose a date range and see jobs booked, revenue generated, and cost-per-job broken down by each source. Export the report to CSV if you need to share it.
Sort channels by cost-per-booked-job. Cut or reduce spend on channels with a high cost-per-job and increase budget on channels delivering the lowest cost-per-job. Review the report monthly to spot trends early.
Start small: Even if you only track referral sources manually for 3 months, the data is enough to reveal which channels are worth investing in and which are wasting budget.
