Revenue and Profit Reports
The Revenue report gives you a complete picture of how much money has been invoiced, what's been paid, and what's still outstanding — all in one place. You can slice the data by date range, see month-by-month trends, and break it down by job type.
Navigating to the Revenue report
Click Reports in the left-hand sidebar, then select the Revenue tab. The report loads with the last 30 days selected by default. The page shows three summary cards at the top followed by a bar chart and a detailed breakdown table below.
Choosing a date range
Click the date range selector at the top right of the report. Choose from Last 7 days, Last 30 days, Last 90 days, or This year. The report reloads instantly with the selected period.
Select "Custom" from the date range dropdown. Two date pickers appear — choose a start date and end date, then click Apply. Useful for matching a specific accounting period or financial quarter.
Understanding the three summary figures
The combined value of all invoices raised in the selected period, regardless of payment status. This is your gross billing figure.
The value of invoices that have been marked as Paid within the selected period. This is the cash that has actually landed in your account (or been confirmed as received).
The difference between Total Invoiced and Total Paid. Includes invoices that are awaiting payment and those that are overdue. Click this figure to see the list of unpaid invoices.
Revenue by month chart
The bar chart below the summary cards shows total invoiced per calendar month for the selected date range. Hover over any bar to see the exact figure. This makes it easy to spot seasonal patterns — busy summer months, quieter periods in January — and plan staffing and marketing around them.
Set the date range to This year and look at the monthly bars. If revenue drops significantly in any month, that's the ideal time to run a marketing campaign to fill the gap before it happens next year.
Breakdown by job type
Scroll below the chart to find the By Job Type table. This lists every job type used in the period (e.g. Boiler Service, Installation, Emergency Call-out) with the total invoiced and number of jobs for each. Use this to understand which types of work are most profitable and where to focus your marketing effort.
Exporting to CSV
Click the Export CSV button at the top right of the report. Trade2Base downloads a spreadsheet containing every invoice in the selected period with columns for invoice number, customer name, job type, invoice date, due date, total, and payment status. This is ideal for sharing with your accountant or importing into accounting software.
If you use Xero, connect it via Settings › Integrations to sync invoices automatically instead of exporting manually. See the Connecting Xero help article.
