Sharing Engineer Location with Customers
Trade2Base can send customers a live tracking link when an engineer is on the way to a job. Customers see a real-time map showing the engineer's location and an estimated arrival time — without needing to call your office.
How to set up engineer location sharing
In the main navigation, open Settings and select Customer Notifications. Find the "Engineer on the way" notification and toggle it on.
Choose when the notification sends: when an engineer checks in to travel to a job, or when the job status changes to "En Route". Both options work — pick whichever fits your team's workflow.
Customers receive a message with a secure link. When they open it, they see a map showing the engineer's current location and an estimated arrival time that updates in real time.
Each engineer needs to allow location access in the Trade2Base app. Go to Settings → Location → Allow while using app on their device. Without this, tracking links will not update.
Once the engineer marks the job as arrived or started, the tracking link stops updating and displays a "Your engineer has arrived" message to the customer.
Did you know? Live engineer tracking significantly reduces “where is the engineer?” calls. Customers who receive tracking links rate their experience 40% higher on average.
