Adding and Moving Jobs on the Schedule

You can create jobs and book them directly from the schedule view without needing to go through the Jobs section. This is the fastest way to block out time, assign an engineer, and keep your calendar up to date.

Creating a job by clicking a time slot

1
Open the Schedule

Click "Schedule" in the left-hand sidebar. Switch to Day or Week view for the easiest slot selection.

2
Click an empty time slot

Click on any empty area of the calendar at the time you want the job to start. A quick-create panel slides in from the right.

3
Enter the job details

Give the job a title and search for the customer. You can also set the job address if it differs from the customer's saved address.

4
Set the duration

Use the Duration field to specify how long the job should take — for example, "2 hours" or "half day". The job block on the calendar will resize to reflect this.

5
Assign an engineer

Use the "Assign to" dropdown to select which engineer will do the job. Only active team members appear in this list.

6
Click "Book job"

The job appears on the calendar at the chosen time. It is automatically saved and the engineer can see it in their schedule.

Dragging an existing job to reschedule

In Day or Week view, you can drag any job block to a new time slot to reschedule it. Click and hold the job block, drag it to the new position, and release. Trade2Base saves the new time immediately. If the customer has automated notifications enabled, they receive an update about the change.

Moving across days

In Week view you can drag a job from one day column to another, making it easy to move jobs between days without opening the job record. In Day view you can only move within the same day — switch to Week view to move across days.

Resizing a job to change duration

In Day and Week view, each job block has a small resize handle at the bottom edge. Click and drag it down to extend the duration, or up to shorten it. The job detail panel updates the duration field in real time. Release to save.

Conflict detection

If you schedule or drag a job so that it overlaps with another job assigned to the same engineer, Trade2Base highlights both overlapping blocks in amber and shows a conflict warning. You can still save the schedule, but the warning reminds you to check the engineer's availability.

Resolving a conflict

To resolve a conflict, drag one of the overlapping jobs to a free slot, reassign it to a different engineer, or change the start time in the job detail panel.

Assigning an engineer directly from the calendar

Click any job block to open the side panel, then use the Assigned to dropdown to change the engineer without leaving the schedule. The job block updates its colour immediately to match the newly assigned engineer.
