Assigning Engineers to Jobs

When you assign an engineer to a job in Trade2Base, they instantly receive a notification with all the details they need: the customer name, job address, scheduled time, and any notes you've added. There are two ways to make an assignment.

Method 1: From the job view

1
Open the job

Navigate to Jobs and click on the job you want to assign.

2
Click "Assign engineer"

The Assign engineer button appears in the job details panel on the right-hand side.

3
Select from your team list

A searchable list of your team members appears. Engineers who are unavailable on the job date are shown with a warning indicator.

4
Save

Click Save. The engineer receives an instant push notification with the job details, including the full address and the scheduled time.

Method 2: From the schedule view

Go to Schedule in the left navigation. The schedule shows a week view with your engineers across the top and days along the side. Unassigned jobs appear in a column on the left. Drag any unassigned job and drop it onto the day slot under the engineer you want to assign. The job is assigned and the engineer is notified automatically — no additional clicks required.

Setting engineer availability

1
Go to Team

Click Team in the left navigation to see your team member list.

2
Select the engineer

Click on the engineer's name to open their profile.

3
Edit Availability

Click the Availability tab. Mark which days of the week they work and set their start and end times for each working day.

4
Save

Click Save. The schedule view now reflects their availability. If you try to assign them to a job on a day they have marked as unavailable, a yellow warning appears.

Engineers on mobile

Engineers see all their assigned jobs in the Trade2Base mobile app. They can tap any job to see the full details, get directions to the customer address, upload before and after photos, log job notes, and mark the job complete — all from their phone on site.
