Sending a Broadcast Message to Your Team

Team broadcasts let you send a single message to all your engineers, a regional group, or specific individuals at once. Messages appear in the Trade2Base app notification centre — no group chats, no phone numbers needed.

What team broadcasts are

A broadcast is a one-way announcement sent from the office to engineers via the Trade2Base app. It is not SMS, WhatsApp, or email — it goes exclusively to the engineer's Trade2Base app notification centre. This keeps team communications inside the platform where you have a record of what was sent and who read it.

Morning briefings

Send daily job priorities, traffic alerts, or weather notices to the whole team before the day starts.

Safety notices

Share a toolbox talk, COSHH update, or site hazard alert and confirm every engineer has read it.

Schedule changes

Notify engineers of a last-minute job cancellation, rescheduled visit, or emergency call-out.

Company updates

Share new policies, training reminders, or company news without clogging up personal WhatsApp groups.

How to send a broadcast

1
Go to Team → Broadcast Message

In the main navigation, open the Team section and click "Broadcast Message". This opens the broadcast composer.

2
Compose your message

Type your message in the text field. There is no character limit. You can attach a single file (PDF or image, up to 10 MB) — useful for attaching a safety notice, site map, or briefing document.

3
Select recipients

Choose who receives the broadcast: all engineers, engineers in a specific region or team group, or individual engineers by name. You can combine selections — for example, all engineers in the South region plus one engineer from another region.

4
Send

Click "Send broadcast". The message is delivered to the Trade2Base app notification centre for each selected engineer immediately. Engineers receive a push notification on their device.

Read receipts

After sending a broadcast, click on it in the Sent Broadcasts list to see the delivery status for each recipient:

Delivered

The message reached the engineer's device. They may not have opened it yet.

Read

The engineer opened the notification in their Trade2Base app. The read timestamp is recorded.

Not yet read

The message has not been opened. You can follow up individually or resend.

Compliance use case

For safety notices, the read receipt log gives you a timestamped record that each engineer acknowledged the notice — useful for audits and incident investigations.

Important: app-only delivery

Broadcasts are not SMS or WhatsApp

Broadcast messages are delivered only to the Trade2Base app notification centre. Engineers must have the Trade2Base app installed and be logged in to receive them. If an engineer does not have the app, they will not receive the broadcast. For engineers without the app, use the standard Inbox to message them individually.

Frequently asked questions

Can engineers reply to a broadcast?

No. Broadcasts are one-way announcements. Engineers cannot reply to a broadcast message. If you need two-way communication, use the Inbox to message individual engineers.

Can I schedule a broadcast for a later time?

Yes. In the broadcast composer, click "Schedule" instead of "Send" and choose a date and time. The broadcast will be sent automatically at the scheduled time.

How many engineers can I include in a broadcast?

There is no limit. You can send to your entire team regardless of size.

Can I attach multiple files?

Currently one file per broadcast is supported. For multiple documents, combine them into a single PDF before attaching.

Can I see a history of past broadcasts?

Yes. All sent broadcasts are listed under Team → Broadcast Message → Sent. Click any broadcast to see the message content, recipients, and read receipt status.
