Using the Trade2Base Mobile App as an Engineer
The Trade2Base app gives engineers everything they need on the go: today's jobs, customer details, time tracking, photo uploads, and customer signatures — all synced in real time with the office.
Downloading the app and logging in
Search for "Trade2Base" in the App Store (iPhone and iPad) or Google Play (Android). The app is free to download. Tap Install.
Open the app and enter the email address and password set up for you by your business owner. If you haven't received your login details, ask your manager to check Settings → Team in Trade2Base.
When prompted, allow Trade2Base to send push notifications. This is important — notifications are how you receive new job assignments and schedule changes.
The home screen
When you log in, the home screen shows your jobs for today listed in schedule order — earliest first. Each job card shows the customer name, address, scheduled time, and job type. Swipe down to refresh and pull in the latest schedule from the office.
Tap a job card to see full details: customer name, phone number, address with map, job description, and any notes added by the office.
Tap the address on the job screen to open it in Apple Maps or Google Maps for turn-by-turn navigation.
Swipe left on the home screen or tap "Tomorrow" to see jobs scheduled for upcoming days.
Starting a job
Tap “Start job” when you arrive on site. This does two things: it begins time tracking so the office can see the job is underway, and it sends the customer a notification that their engineer has arrived. The timer runs in the background — you do not need to keep the app open.
Completing a job
Before tapping complete, add photos of the work. Tap "Add photos" and choose camera (take a new photo) or photo library (upload an existing one). Photos are categorised as Before, During, or After — select the correct category for each.
Hand your phone or tablet to the customer and ask them to sign in the signature box. Their signature is stored against the job and can be included on completion certificates.
Tap "Mark complete". The job status updates to Complete in the office instantly. The time tracking stops and the total time on site is recorded.
Receiving job notifications
You receive a push notification when:
A notification appears with the job name, customer, and scheduled date. Tap it to open the job directly.
You receive a notification with the updated date and time. Check the home screen to see the updated schedule.
If your manager adds an internal note to one of your jobs, you are notified so you can review it before arriving on site.
Offline mode
The Trade2Base app works without a mobile signal or Wi-Fi. If you lose connectivity on site, the app continues to function normally — you can view job details, start and complete jobs, add photos, and capture signatures. Everything you do offline is saved locally on your device and synced automatically as soon as connectivity is restored. A small banner at the top of the screen indicates when the app is working offline.
Raising a job note
Engineers can add internal notes to a job that are visible to the office but not to the customer. To add a note, open the job and tap “Add note”. Type your note and tap Save. Use this for observations, follow-up requirements, parts needed, or anything the office needs to know.
Frequently asked questions
Check you are using the email address set up by your business owner. Tap "Forgot password" on the login screen to reset it. If you don't receive the reset email, ask your manager to check the email address in Settings → Team.
By default, engineers can only see their own jobs. Your manager can grant additional visibility in Settings → Roles if needed.
There is no limit. Upload as many Before, During, and After photos as needed. Photos are compressed automatically to save data when uploading.
Engineers can add notes and photos. Editing core job details (customer, address, date) is reserved for the office to maintain schedule integrity.
