Viewing All Job Photos in One Place

The job photo gallery keeps every before, during, and after photo in one organised place. Upload from the mobile app or web, add categories and captions, and choose exactly which photos your customer can see in the portal.

Where to find the photo gallery

Open any job and select the Photos tab. All photos attached to that job are shown in a grid, grouped by category. You can filter by category using the tabs at the top of the gallery.

Tip

Photos added from the mobile app and from the web both appear in the same gallery, so your office team and engineers always see the same up-to-date set of photos.

Uploading photos

1
From the mobile app

Open the job in the Trade2Base app, tap the Photos tab, then tap the camera icon. Choose "Take photo" to use the camera directly or "Choose from library" to pick an existing photo. Engineers on site can upload multiple photos at once by selecting several images from their library.

2
From the web (drag-and-drop or file picker)

On the web, open the job Photos tab and drag image files directly onto the upload area, or click "Upload photos" to open your file picker. JPEG, PNG, HEIC, and WebP formats are supported. Multiple files can be uploaded in one go.

3
From a WhatsApp message attachment

If a customer or engineer sends photos via WhatsApp, open the conversation in the Trade2Base Inbox, long-press the image, and tap "Save to job". The photo is added to the job gallery with the WhatsApp conversation timestamped.

Photo categories

Set a category when uploading each photo. Categories help you and your team quickly find the right photos and give customers a clear visual story of the work.

Before

Photos taken before any work begins — showing the existing condition. Useful for dispute resolution and setting customer expectations.

During

Progress shots taken mid-job. Useful for jobs spanning multiple visits or for showing work that will be hidden (e.g. pipe runs before plastering).

After

Completion photos showing the finished result. These are the most commonly shared with customers via the portal.

Compliance

Photos of certificates, test results, meter readings, or any evidence required for compliance — Gas Safe, EICR, inspection reports, etc.

Adding captions

Tap or click any photo in the gallery to open the full-size view. Type a caption in the text field below the image. Captions are automatically timestamped with the date and time the caption was saved, creating an auditable record alongside the photo.

Compliance tip

For compliance photos, use the caption to record meter readings, test values, or certificate numbers. The timestamp and caption together form a reliable evidence trail.

Making photos visible to the customer

Each photo has a “Visible to customer” toggle. When enabled, the photo appears in the customer's portal view. When disabled, it is only visible internally to your team.

Toggle per photo

Open any photo and flip the "Visible to customer" toggle. Changes take effect immediately — no need to save separately.

Business default setting

Go to Settings → Business Profile → Photos. Choose whether new photos default to "Private" (visible to team only) or "Public" (visible to customer). You can always override the default per photo.

Downloading and sharing photos

Download all photos as a ZIP

On the Photos tab, click "Download all". Trade2Base bundles every photo on the job into a single ZIP file, organised into folders by category (Before, During, After, Compliance).

Share a photo link with the customer

Open any individual photo and click "Copy link". This generates a direct, secure link to that photo that you can paste into a WhatsApp message, email, or SMS. The link does not require the customer to log in to the portal.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a limit on the number of photos per job?

There is no hard limit on the number of photos. Storage allowance depends on your plan — check Settings → Billing for your current usage.

Can I delete a photo?

Yes. Open the photo and tap or click the delete icon. Deleting a photo is permanent and cannot be undone. If the photo was visible to the customer, it will be removed from their portal immediately.

Can engineers upload photos from the app without internet access?

Yes. Photos taken offline in the mobile app are queued and uploaded automatically when the device regains a connection.

What image formats are supported?

JPEG, PNG, HEIC (iPhone native format), and WebP are all supported. Maximum file size per photo is 25 MB.
