Engineer Daily Summary Notifications
The engineer daily summary sends each member of your team a personalised rundown of their jobs for the day — via WhatsApp or email — before they leave home. No more morning phone calls to find out where to go first.
How to set up daily summaries
In the main navigation, open Settings and select Notifications from the left-hand menu. Find the "Engineer daily summary" section.
Choose what time the summary is sent each morning. A send time of 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM works well for most trade businesses, giving engineers time to review their day before they set off.
The summary includes each job assigned to that engineer: the job address, scheduled time window, customer name, and any notes added to the job. Engineers receive the summary via WhatsApp if connected, or by email as a fallback.
Each job in the summary is a deep link. Tapping it opens the full job record in the Trade2Base mobile app, where the engineer can see all details, photos, checklists, and customer contact information.
Enable the "Include travel time" toggle to add estimated driving times between jobs to the summary. Trade2Base calculates drive times based on job addresses and the order jobs are scheduled.
Why it matters: Daily summaries reduce morning phone calls and “what am I doing today?” messages. Engineers arrive at jobs prepared, and customers notice the difference.
Frequently asked questions
Yes. On the daily summary settings page, you can toggle the summary on or off for individual engineers. For example, you might send summaries to field engineers but not office staff.
The summary reflects the schedule at the time it is sent. If a job is added or re-scheduled after the summary goes out, the engineer will not receive an automatic update unless you send a manual notification from the job record.
By default, the summary only sends on days when the engineer has jobs scheduled. If no jobs are assigned, no summary is sent. You can also restrict summaries to working days only in the notification settings.
Trade2Base falls back to email if WhatsApp is not connected for an engineer. To connect WhatsApp, go to Settings → Integrations → WhatsApp.
