Sending Review Requests to Customers
Reviews are the lifeblood of a trade business. Trade2Base makes it easy to ask every customer for a review the moment a job is done — via WhatsApp or email — with a single click. Here's how to use the Reviews section to build your reputation on Google and Checkatrade.
The Reviews section
Click Reviews in the left-hand sidebar. The Reviews section has two tabs: Requests (review requests you have sent) and Received (reviews imported from Google and Checkatrade).
From the Requests tab you can see every customer who has been sent a request, the delivery channel used, when it was sent, and whether they have left a review yet.
Sending a request from a completed job
Go to Jobs and open any job with a status of "Completed". The Request Review button appears in the job action bar at the top of the record.
A drawer slides out on the right. Trade2Base pre-fills the customer name, phone number, and email address from the customer record.
Select WhatsApp or Email. WhatsApp messages have a much higher open rate (around 90%) so it is the recommended default. If the customer has no WhatsApp number, email is selected automatically.
Choose where you want the customer to leave a review: Google Business Profile or Checkatrade. The review link in the message points directly to your listing on that platform.
Read the pre-written message, make any edits you like, then click Send. Trade2Base records the request and the time it was sent.
Batch review requests
If you have a backlog of completed jobs that have never had a review request sent, use the batch request feature. From the Reviews › Requests tab, click Batch Request. Trade2Base lists all completed jobs where no request has been sent, and lets you select some or all of them to send in one go.
If you have hundreds of old jobs, send batch requests in groups of 20–30 per day. Sending a sudden spike of review requests can look unnatural to Google and may be filtered.
Tracking who has been sent a request
The Requests tab shows a live list with three status badges: Sent, Reviewed, and Bounced. A request moves to Reviewed once Trade2Base detects a new review on the linked platform (requires Google Business Profile to be connected). Bounced means the message could not be delivered — usually because the phone number is incorrect.
Tips & best practices
The best time to ask for a review is while the job is fresh in the customer's mind. Aim to send within 24 hours of marking the job as Completed. You can automate this timing with a review automation rule — see the Related articles below.
Add a brief personal line referencing the job (“Great to sort your boiler out today”) before clicking send. Personalised messages convert at roughly twice the rate of generic ones.
What happens after the review is left?
Once a customer leaves a review on Google or Checkatrade, it imports automatically into your Trade2Base Reviews › Received tab (requires the platform integration to be connected). You can then use AI Suggest Reply to draft a professional response in seconds.
Create your free Trade2Base account and send your first review request in under two minutes.
