Assigning Jobs to Engineers
Every job in Trade2Base can be assigned to a specific engineer on your team. Once assigned, the job appears in their personal schedule view and they receive a notification so nothing slips through the cracks.
Assigning a job step by step
Navigate to Jobs in the sidebar and click on the job you want to assign. You can also search by job reference or customer name using the search bar at the top.
On the job detail page, find the "Assign Engineer" field in the right-hand panel. Click the field or the pencil icon next to it to open the team picker.
A dropdown lists all active engineers on your account. Each entry shows their name and current workload for the day. Click the engineer you want to assign the job to.
The job is saved automatically. The engineer's name now appears on the job card and in the schedule view.
Trade2Base sends the assigned engineer a push notification (mobile app) and an email with the job details, scheduled time, and customer address.
What the engineer sees
Once a job is assigned, the engineer can view it from their own Trade2Base account:
- The job appears in their "My Schedule" view, sorted by date and time.
- Tapping the job shows the full job details including customer name, address, job description, and any notes.
- They can update the job status (e.g. mark as In Progress or Completed) directly from their mobile.
- Site photos and notes added by the engineer are instantly visible to the office.
If you run a one-person business, you still need to assign every job — assign them to yourself. This ensures the job shows up correctly in your schedule view and that all reporting metrics (jobs per engineer, completion rates) are accurate.
Reassigning a job
Plans change. You can reassign a job at any time before it is marked as Completed:
Navigate to the job that needs reassigning.
In the right-hand panel, click the assigned engineer's name to reopen the team picker.
Choose the new engineer from the list. The original engineer receives a notification that the job has been removed from their schedule.
When you reassign a job, both the original engineer and the new engineer are notified by email. If you want to make a quiet change without alerting the team, you can disable engineer notifications temporarily in Settings → Notifications.
